Day 1 Check Into Hotel for Pre-Flight Stay, Get to Know Fellow Explorers

We will be taking advantage of flying out of Portland and testing out its amazing remodel now complete. You’ll enjoy an overnight stay before your morning flight. Your Tour Manager will meet with group this evening. (S)

Day 2 Early Flight to California, Temecula Wine Country, Old Mission

Board our early non stop flight on Alaska Airlines to Ontario. We will arrive at 11:30am and our company coach will be waiting at the airport. It’s just a short drive to the charming village of Temecula. Nestled in 3,000 acres of picturesque wine country, the Old Town district here blends historic buildings with antique dealers, unique shopping, tasting rooms and restaurants. Take a tour of the Mission Basilica San Diego de Alcalá. It was the second Franciscan founded mission, on July 16, 1769. Check into your hotel for a 5 Night stay. Unpack once and relax. (B)

Day 3 Amtrak Surfliner to San Juan Capistrano, San Diego Zoo Safari

Take a ride Amtrak’s famous Pacific Surfliner to San Juan Capistrano while hugging the Pacific coastline. Spend part of the day shopping, dining and visiting another one of the historic California Missions. On our return well take a peak to see if the 50 acres of colorful ranunculus are in bloom as we pass Carlsbad. B

Day 4 San Diego Zoo

Visit the world-famous San Diego Zoo, home to over 4,500 rare and endangered animals, and experience their worlds at the Polar Bear Plunge, Elephant Odyssey, and other areas. The 100-acre San Diego Zoo is known for its naturalistic habitats and unique animal encounters. Our bus will drop and pick you at the front entrance. There is a guided bus tour and Skyfari aerial tram to help you get around, plus scooters you can rent for $55.00. (B)

Day 5/6 San Diego Hop On Hop Off Trolley with City Pass Option

The next two days are yours to explore with a Hop On Hop Off Trolley Pass. It goes to 11 destinations Like Balboa Park, and Seaport Village. If you can load an app on your phone and want to do as much as possible, check out purchasing a Go City Pass allowing you entrance to 60 different San Diego attractions, such as SeaWorld and the USS Midway Museum. Plus guided walking tours and bay cruises. In the evenings spend time in Old Town San Diego, It is full of the sights, sounds and tastes of Mexico. B each day
