Travel along scenic Hood Canal during the peak of wild rhodie season. Along the way stop at Whitney's 7-acre garden in full bloom. Established in 1950s, walk amongst rare trees and ponds to view the most beautiful array of rhododendron hybrids and species in the Northwest. Our lunch stop will be in Port Townsend along the waterfront, dubbed “the Paris of the Pacific Northwest” by Sunset Magazine, where you will find many lunch options and shops. This rich cultural treasure will delight military and maritime history buffs. Start at the Friends of Fort Worden Gift Shop, and where we will pick up our local guide. The Fort as the filming location for An Officer And A Gentleman, so be sure to watch the movie before we depart for the tour. Stop into the Puget Sound Coast Artillery Museum and Commanding Officer’s House. Then, at the photogenic 1914 Point Wilson Lighthouse. Explore defunct coastal defense batteries, and imagine the compound teeming with enlisted men, officers during World War I and II.
