Day 1 Continue to Oregon City, the state’s first capital, and stop at The end of the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center where you will take a trip back in time with costumed guides to learn about the hardships and challenges of coming out West. Take a ride up the Oregon City Municipal Elevator. At 130 feet high, it offers the best view in town. The town built the marvel in 1915 and it is one of only four municipal elevators in the world and the only “vertical street” in North America. An elevator attendant will greet us, and interpretive signs and artwork detailing the site’s history complete your visit. We will also enjoy a hosted lunch and a special Willamette Falls viewpoint. Check into our hotel for an overnight stay. (L)
Day 2 Today you will cover over 60 miles of the lower Columbia River on the Portland Spirit for a special event full-day narrated adventure from Portland to Astoria. The cruise departs at 8:00am from the port of Portland and ends at 6:00pm in Astoria. During the cruise enjoy live historical narration, hot plated breakfast, plated lunch with dessert, light dinner with soup and sandwich and beverages. We have tables along the window indoors and there is plenty of outdoor deck space to enjoy the panoramic views. Our bus will be waiting to take you to your hotel for an overnight stay. (B,L,S)
Day 3 Fort Clatsop was the encampment of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Explore the site with a park guide. Explore this site and many others like it along The Lewis & Clark National Historic Trail. After some free time in waterfront Astoria for lunch and shopping, continue to Cape Disappointment fronted by the Pacific Ocean and looking into the mouth of the Columbia River. Enjoy the breathtaking views of the North Head Lighthouse and the exhibits in the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center. (B)
