Portland has had a love affair with roses since 1888, when Georgiana Burton Pittock had her friends display their prize roses in a tent at her garden. Now the International Rose Garden at Washington Park features more than 10,000 individual rose bushes, which begin blooming in late May, representing over 610 different rose varieties. Today is the opening of the Portland Rose Festival, so come with us to join the party. Your adventure includes a visit to the famous Rose Gardens and a 2.5 hours sunset dinner cruise on the Portland Spirit that includes a three-course meal and incredible views of the Portland skyline. The ship then docks right in front of the barge where the Fireworks are launched providing you premium seating for the show from the outside decks or picture windows. Fireworks are over at 10:30PM (so it will be a late return home).
