DAY 1 McMinnville Wine District, Beaches and Bonfire
Early down the I-5 Expressway to Salem. Stop in charming downtown McMinnville for lunch and shopping. There are many tasting rooms and cafes in Oregon's wine region. Stop on the way to Arrive at your waterfront hotel before the sun sets. You will have time to stroll the beach and have dinner on your own. If the weather allows, we will set up a BYOB bonfire on the beach. (S)
DAY 2 Wild Oregon Lighthouses & Coos Bay Scenic Loop with Shore Acres Garden and Whale Viewing
Hecta Head Lighthouse and Seal Rock Viewpoint, Umpquah River Lighthouse Tour, Shore Acres State Park, Sea Stacks At Face Rock meal break at the Crazy Norwegian in Port Orford (famous for their fish and chips) Overnight on the Lower Rouge River. Check-in tonight at your Riverfront hotel. Rooms have balconies for you to watch the boat traffic and wildlife. (B)
DAY 3 64 Mile Mail Boat Journey on the Lower Rouge
Join us in the lobby for fresh pastries and coffee while we wait for our jet boat to make a special pick-up at the dock in front of the hotel. Jet boat the ‘Historic Mail Boat Route’ just as Rogue River pioneers have done since 1895, when road access did not exist. This is one of the few remaining Mail Boats in the nation, still delivering the mail to Agness, 32 miles upriver, on a daily basis. There is no whitewater on this run, just a beautiful day on the Rogue River spotting wildlife, sharing history and having a lunch at remote Cougar Lodge that includes Ribs, Pulled Pork, Brisket, Muffin, Baked Beans, & Coleslaw. DAY 4 Redwoods Travel through the Oregon and California
Redwoods Trees of Mystery is California's premier nature attraction on the North Coast! Since 1946 It has been educating travelers and features interpretive trails through Giant Redwoods, a number of unusual tree formations, and a fabulous First Nations museum. This is a customer favorite with shuttles available, a canopy skybridge and tram ride so you can get many perspectives. After a break for lunch, continue back along the Newton B. Drury Scenic Parkway. Finish with an overnight stay in Grants Pass. (B)
DAY 5 Morning Wildlife Safari
Escape on a wild African Safari Drive Through Adventure and get up close to Ostrich, Watusi cattle, Lions and Zebra on from our picture windows on the bus. Your Safari journey includes a step on guide from the park fully narrating our journey and answering all your questions. We will take you through Southern Africa where the Rhino and Giraffe rule. Carry on to interpretive wetlands, cleaning the local waters before venturing into the land of bears, bison and elk within the sprawling canyon forests of North America. Strop for lunch break and a walk through the rose gardens in Eugene, before continuing home.
