This Long Beach extravaganza boasts skies ablaze with color, high flying action and choreographed movement. The Kite Festival draws famous kite fliers from all around the world. It was Voted Best Kite Festival in the World by Kite Trade Association International. Come watch the Senior Ballet Competition where competitors must be 50 years old or older. During competition judging is based on music selection; smoothness of movements to show control and flow of music; number and variety of moves, innovation and over-all enthusiasm. Performances are limited to 5 minutes. Downtown shops and restaurants are open and the festival has a huge crafts and specialty foods fair on the prom. As most activities take place just after lunch, so we arrive in the afternoon and depart at 6:00pm.
