At Seattle Aquarium's new Ocean Pavilion, step out of the Pacific Northwest into a warm, bright, vibrant underwater world teeming with life. Join us to discover the wonders of a reef ecosystem in the Coral Triangle—a region in the Indo-Pacific so rich in biodiversity that it’s been called “the Amazon of the Ocean”! You’ll come face to face with 3,500 animals and plants: sharks, rays, bowmouth guitarfish, schooling fish, mangroves, nearly 30 species of coral, and so much more. Be sure to stroll over and check out the original exhibits that shine a light on the diverse marine life of the Pacific Northwest, including the enormous tank Window on Washington Waters showcasing local Pacific species like rockfish, lingcod, wolf eels, salmon, and sea anemones. There are shows where the divers answer visitors’ questions using modified masks. Life on the Edge presents all the life found in tide pools on the Pacific coast and around Seattle inland, allowing you to touch sea cucumbers and sea urchins. In Life of a Drifter, moon jellies and a giant Pacific octopus are present, while sea otters, river otters, northern fur seals, and harbor seals entertain you with their antics. Attached to the Ocean Pavilion is a new elevator to the stunning Overlook Walk with expansive views and relaxing spaces. It is located where the Alaskan Way Viaduct once stood. It bridges the nearly 100-foot gap between the Waterfront restaurants and shops and Pike Place Market.
