This Oregon Coast adventure is during Spring Whale Watch week. Volunteers will be stationed at locations along the coast to help us locate the 1,000s of gray whales that will be migrating off the shore of Oregon. About 30 whales can be seen per hour during peak migration, so bring binoculars. A two-hour whale watch cruise is included (weather permitting). on a safe and comfortable 50-foot boat. They are Coast Guard Certified with all the amenities: comfortable heated cabins, restrooms, indoor seating, and seating out on the deck. You'll be able to walk all the way around the boats for excellent whale sightings. The captains have decades of experience and a wealth of knowledge they share during the excursions. Our hotel is just over 30 minutes from both Depoe Bay and Newport, allowing us to be as flexible as the weather. At the Oregon Coast Aquarium enjoy a self-guided tour including Passages of the Deep, a 1.32-million-gallon exhibit featuring three expansive ocean habitats connected by a series of clear tunnels, allowing you to walk underwater. If you want to expand your visit, book early and ask for a $25 behind-the-scenes guided tour to explore the ins and outs of caring for over 15,000 animals every day from smiling sea otters to dozens of toothy sharks. On our return, take the scenic 70-mile Three Capes loop drive. It has recently reopened after being closed 10 years to repair damages from a landslide. It's know as one of the most scenic areas on the Oregon Coast. We will also sneak in some specialty shopping, including Tillamook cheese. What are you waiting for, this is the spring trip you have been waiting for!
